Giraffes and T-bone Night

A ground squirrel, up a tree.
One of several giraffes.

Photographing birds is one of my challenges, and then learning their names.
A herd of impala.
The conservation volunteers removing some fencing.
Their workshop with a view of the pool.
T-bones enjoyed by all.

Wednesday, April 19th.

Just a quick reminder that if you click on the photos they will enlarge to full screen.

Bruce had to wake me at 5:50 so that I didn’t miss the morning game drive. I had time for a banana before we headed out with Dylan as our driver. We found some elephants, giraffes, and various types of birds, along with the ubiquitous impala. We also saw a Mozambique spitting cobra which I unfortunately didn’t get a photo of before it slithered off into the bush, as it was on the other side of the truck. But, apparently the truck startled it and it reared up into the cobra defense stance as we passed. After lunch we had a long workshop on how to import and edit photos in Lightroom (a product of PhotoShop). It gives you infinite tools to enhance, manipulate and change your photos. It is a complicated program that we all had to purchase for this course. Again, it is going to be a steep learning curve. Tonight, was the weekly t-bone dinner night. We all went to the bar next door and sat out on the deck. The steak was delicious and came with coleslaw, garlic potatoes and an African white paste made from corn called pap, with a tomato and onion sauce. We had a good time enhanced by a beer or two. We headed off to bed about 9 and quickly fell asleep. However, I had to get up at 10:30 and we could hear the young kids up drinking and singing loudly in a room nearby. Thankfully that didn’t last too long.
