Saturday February 5th. Today was all about getting to Nairobi. We packed up our portable home for the last time and boarded the truck. The three men in front of the truck were our crew, Joel the driver, Joseph the guide and leader on the right, and Dixon, kneeling down.
We stopped at a large souvenir shop for some shopping (I did none) and at the view of the Rift Valley that we stopped at a couple of weeks ago. Again the view wasn't clear.
We arrived at the Boulevard Hotel by 5:00. Ten of us got off here. Then the rest reboarded the truck and headed out as they are continuing on the trip south, the part I'd already done going north.
Sad to say goodbye to everyone. I will really miss them, especially John from the Bronx. There were 60 different people on our truck for the 54 days, and I can honestly say they were all individually great people. A wide variety of ages, and personalities, but we all shared a love of travel and exploring Africa.
John and I joined the others for a swim in the pool and a beer. Then they left to go to Carnivores and John and I had dinner at the hotel (I had Chinese food in Africa!, not bad).
Then John had a shower, packed his stuff and we took it down to catch his taxi to the airport.
I spent the rest of the night uploading 25 days of photos, so I hope you enjoy them!! Go back to Day 21 in the January folder to see them in order.
