Day 46 Lake Bonyunyi, Uganda

Friday January 27th. Up and off by 7:00. Today we were driving through the highlands of Uganda towards Lake Bunyonyi. The scenery was gorgeous as we drove through the hills past banana and tea plantations.

We stopped in a village to buy groceries and John, John and I walked around taking some photos and marvelling at the way the bicycles and motorcycles are used.

While talking on the truck to the couple from Australia, I heard that when they were in Livingstone, the Devil's Pool had been closed because of high water and that one of the guides had gone over the falls and died, because he was trying to save a woman who jumped into the pool and almost went over. He saved her but lost his life.

Late in the afternoon we at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort. It is a beautiful place and definitely the nicest campsite we have been at. And we are staying here for three days and four nights! We had lunch when we got here and then most of us went for a swim in the lake. The water temperature was almost like Ahmic Lake back home. We sat around and relaxed on the dock getting to know the whole group better.

We had a good dinner and a relaxing evening. Some of us are going gorilla tracking tomorrow, but most of us, including John and I are going on Sunday.

Talked with the group of four Canadians from London and Waterloo for awhile and then off to bed again.
