Wednesday January 5th.
Sad goodbyes to Retief and GP this morning as well as Sten. Then at half six we were off. Back on the road, with a new leader, Vernon, a new truck and a new driver, Paul. The truck is a bit newer. There seems to be more room on it and the windows don't rattle so much, but there is no front window, and the seats are harder and don't recline. I kept nodding off, but hard to sleep.
We drove until 1:00 with a couple of pit stops, before arriving at Lusaka Zambia and Eureka Campgrounds. It's another surprisingly nice campground with a pool and a bar. In addition it has a mini game park attached with impala, zebra and a giraffe wandering around in the woods.
After having lunch some people went into Lusaka (the capital of Zambia) with Vernon to get groceries, but John and I took advantage of the opportunity to have an afternoon nap. I crashed for about three hours. Then I had a short dip in the pool and John and I went for an early evening game walk and had a good chat.
Got back in time for dinner. Then we all sat around talking for a bit before people turned in early. Everyone is tired from the drive, the fun in Livingstone and the flights from around the world.
