Santa Clara, Cuba, 2009

The tennis pro and his two students.

Bagging some rays.

March Break 2009
Dad and I took another vacation together and this time we went to Santa Clara in Cuba. Unfortunately Dad was having some back problems that limited his mobility, but we did manage to play a lot of tennis with the resort pro. But, that probably didn't help his back either.

It was less active than last time and more relaxing. However, we did enjoy the weather, the surroundings, the food, the beer, the people we met and each other. Time well spent.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 2009

Visiting a colonial (tourist) town.

Beautiful kids.

January, 2008
Terri and I decided to escape the Canadian winter and head south once again and return to the Dominican Republic. We stayed at a resort. We enjoyed the beach which was open to locals and was a beehive of activity. We took a couple of tours of the area including to a colonial town, complete with amphitheatre where they put on live concerts.

I scuba dived there, and we did a lot of snorkelling. We bought a couple of local paintings that Terri framed when we got home. It was a wonderful relaxing week in the sun.

Sadly, this was the last trip I took with Terri. Things felt apart shortly after we arrived home. I think her knowledge that I was taking a sabbatical year to travel the world in 2010-11 put a lot of pressure on our relationship. She was a wonderful woman and a great travel companion.
