Tuesday September 7 (still). I forgot to mention that after leaving Natural Bridges, I traveled south along a highway that led to Moki Dugway. It's marked on all the state maps and I had talked to a couple of bikers a few days back about it. They told me that they did it and I shouldn't miss it. As you can see from the sign, it's scary! Most of the thirty miles is paved, but 3 miles of it is
unpaved switchbacks down off the plateau to the floor. It's loose gravel on a 10% grade. The views were amazing, but I traveled very slowly. I think I would have rather ridden up, because going down you have the weight of the bike and you to deal with. However, after about 20 minutes to go three miles, and take a couple of photos, I arrived at the bottom safely at the town of Mexican Hat.
