Thursday, April 3rd.

I met my Ryerson University friend Mark Warden at the airport and we flew to Miami on American Airlines. We took a cab to South Beach and the hotel I had pre-booked, The Fairwind Hotel. That ride cost $65 dollars and we knew we’d have to pay the same to get back to the casino which is by the airport for the pre-launch party and then back again, so we decided to give the evening of music at the casino a pass. If I’d know about the party earlier I would have booked nearer the casino. Oh well. We checked in and then went for a walk along the beach. I was looking for the restaurant where Shayna and I had eaten on our Miami trip. I finally found it and we had a good meal. Then we walked back and found a restaurant on Collins where we could sit and have another beer before walking back to the hotel by 9:30.The bar below us was very loud but we managed a decent night's sleep. We had a good day catching up and getting reacquainted.
