A Day at Sea

Two other cruise ships at Canada Place.
Loading a container ship.
'Bunkering' or fueling.
The retractable roof of the midship's pool deck.
The opened roof.
The outside pool deck at the stern.
A hot tub.
The World Stage theatre.

Monday, August 7th.

We had gale force winds and high seas overnight, but it had calmed by the morning. After breakfast I wandered around the ship and out onto the decks. The weather was cooler and cloudy. After lunch it started to rain and as the day went on the skies going more leaden and it rained harder. The seas were again running high with big rolling waves and white caps. I can feel the movement, but it is just gentle enough to make you walk in a slightly inebriated manner. I spent the afternoon in my room listening to tunes while figuring out some internet issues and updating the blog. I had dinner in the dinning room (instead of the buffet) by myself and then went to the ‘World Stage’ theatre to hear from the ship’s captain as he led a toast to the crew, the passengers, and a great cruise. He said that members of the 800 strong crew came from over 40 countries. He said it was like the United Nations, except this one worked. He introduced other important members of the crew and then we were entertained by an excellent dance group of three men and three women. The dancing was amazing and was enhanced by the visual effects projected onto the screens on the back of the stage. This is not usually my thing, but it was superb. Blogging and then to bed in preparation for an early morning.

  1. Joe, no details on the tunes you were listening to while figuring out internet issues? Inquiring minds need to know. 60/‘s rock, jazz, blues, prog rock, MOR, Broadway show tunes, Mowtown? C’mon man, set the mood!
