The motorboat cruise.
The backwater canals.
An entrepreneur selling drinks and coconuts.
On Golden Sand Beach, where you cannot swim because of the undertow.
Great boats.
A cow wash.
A white throated kingfisher.
Goats hanging out by our hotel.
The whole group, with Mark and Thoufeeq.
Sunday, March 11th.
We were up early and off on another little boat ride.
Thoufeeq had heard our disappointment in the back waters cruise, in that it was
not in narrow canals as pictured on the website, so he had arranged another
backwaters cruise for us in this area. This time it was indeed narrow canals
with palm trees, birds and local people, but it was on a small motorboat. It
seems that the big houseboats don’t fit on the narrow canals. Anyway, all good
and we enjoyed the trip.
Back at the hotel a group of us went for lunch at the
same restaurant as last night, because the food was excellent. Then we went
down to the beach. Jamie, Heather and I went for a long walk along the beach in
search of an ATM to get some cash and then returned to Jo and the beach
loungers. We hung out there and went for a swim.
I headed back up at 5:00 to organize our room as we
are hosting the last night party. At 6:00 everyone showed up and we presented
Thoufeeq with his tip and took a group photo while having a beer or two. We are
all sad that the trip is over. It was a great group of mature people and we all
got along very well. Thoufeeq said that we were a very easy group to work with.
Trish and Celia are leaving in the middle of the night, Adele, Jo and Jamie in
the early morning and the rest of us tomorrow afternoon, except Mark who has
booked three more nights here. Then we all headed down to the Fussion
restaurant again for dinner. After that John and I were a little tipsy and
headed off to bed.
