Saturday,
August 12th.
This
was a very crazy busy day. I woke up at 4:30 am and decided to get up
and get busy. I had hoped to have time to ride either my bicycle or
my motorcycle, but time didn't allow it. I spent the day collecting
and organizing all of the things I needed to take and then packing
them in my two bags. Then I had last minute organizing and cleaning
to do in the house. I had to park my motorcycle in my father's garage
and my car in mine.
While
having a beer and lunch with Dad, my friend Mike came to pick me up
and drive me to the airport. I had an Economy Comfort ticket (it was
on sale when Denise booked it) which meant there were two seats
together instead of three. Therefore there was more leg room. After a
very busy last day getting organized, I fell asleep quickly on the
plane and slept through the meal.
It
was only a five hour flight and I managed to sleep for about half of
it. The rest of the time I watched some promotional videos about
Iceland, that seemed to focus mostly on the fine dining
opportunities. We landed at 6:00 am and the temperature was about 9
degrees.
The Intrepid trip Discover
Iceland I booked starts on the evening of August 14th. I
had decided to arrive on the 13th as that would give me
almost two full days to adjust to the time change, catch up on my
sleep and explore Reykjavik before the tour.
I bought an interesting book at the airport to read to while away the evenings.
