Monday, July 22nd. FIRST DAY OF SECOND WEEK
Back to school today. We arrived early and waited for the
ministry people and the co-tutors to figure out how we were going to make it
work. We decided that George’s lab would keep running and he would have the
teachers researching differentiated instruction articles, the second class
would be 30 minutes each of three subjects, science, social studies and math,
delivered by three people and the third class would be about differentiated
instruction led by Wendy. After receiving last night’s e-mail about the change
in plans, she found a PowerPoint on the internet. Irnice, myself and the co-tutors helped out
where we were needed. The social studies expert missed the entire first class,
and Mavis was a half hour late. It is also interesting how many participants
who come in late, walk in and interrupt the class by saying ‘sorry I`m late’
like they are proud of it.
Anyway, it all went fairly smoothly. Mrs. Mohammad, the main
ministry person who has caused us the problems and who said she would not be
here today, showed up for a bit with a math ministry person to watch their
people work.
Wendy and another participant brought in report cards for us
to see. They are booklets and contain all the reports, hand written, for all
terms and all grades, the student’s whole career.
On the way home we stopped to shop for our Canada Day celebration
and then went home to fill out the team report that we have to submit to CTF
when we get home. We had a bite to eat and then pooled our Canada gifts and
decided who to give them to. That took a long time. I did not realize that we were
giving a little something to everyone. If I knew this I would have brought a
lot of the same thing rather than an assortment of things. It just makes it
harder to divide up and maybe some people will think it is unfair. Oh well, not
much we can do at this point. I read, typed and was in bed by ten.
